Highlights of BAC accomplishments in July: The BAC held its bimonthly meeting on July 11. Ward 4 member Rachel Maisler spearheaded memorial rides in honor of the two cyclists killed in late June and early July. Maisler spoke at a July 19 Vision Zero rally organized by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association. Here's a clip of my speech at the @WABADC rally earlier. Highlights of BAC accomplishments in June: The BAC committees held meetings in June. Legislative Committee chair John Serrao and BAC chair David Cranor discuss committee business at the June 13 meeting DDOT’s Mike Goodno and Facilities Committee chair Susan Balding debrief after the June 23 field ride in the 20th/21st/22nd St. NW protected bike lanes project area The Safety, Education and Enforcement Committee held a June 25 meeting with a representative of the Department of For-Hire Vehicles. Members discussed ways to increase bicyclist safety in relation to drivers of taxis and ride-hailing cars. Additionally, members attended Vision Zero assessments of high-crash intersections. Highlights of BAC accomplishments in May: The BAC held its bimonthly meeting on May 2. Chair David Cranor ’ s personal blog post reports on some of the project updates DDOT gave at the meeting. BAC members celebrated Bike to Work Day on May 18. Several members spoke to elected and appointed officials at the Freedom Plaza pit stop. Highlights of BAC accomplishments in April: The three BAC committees held meetings and the BAC’s Ward 4 member co-organized a community ride with Councilmember Brandon Todd. Accompanied by a police escort, some 50 bicyclists rode through Ward 4 to tour the streets and see new infrastructure at traffic circles and elsewhere.
