Rolling forward: D.C. bicycling report for May 2019

Highlights of BAC accomplishments in May: The BAC held its bimonthly meeting on May 1. The guest speakers were representatives of the Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee. At the meeting, the BAC voted to partner with its Northern Virginia counterparts to hold a regional bicycling summit on June 9. See below for more information about the free event. Inaugural Regional Bike Summit June 9

Together with the Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee, the BAC is organizing the first regional summit of citizen policy advisors. The summit takes place from 1 to 5:30 p.m. on June 9 at at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel, 2800 S Potomac Ave., Arlington. It is free and open to the public. The purpose is to identify cross-jurisdictional actions to make biking safer and more enjoyable. Participants will develop prioritized action plans in three areas: 1. Trails and Wayfinding. Develop standards that would eliminate unnecessary differences across the region for key features such as emergency reporting and wayfinding. 2. Connected Networks. Develop a prioritized set of infrastructure changes and associated actions for the top three gap-filling projects. 3. Safe Streets Tool Kit. General Council Meeting - Wednesday January 7, 2015

New year, new meeting! In keeping with our regular bimonthly schedule, there will be a Bicycle Advisory Council general meeting this Wednesday January 7 at 6pm.  We will be at the One Judiciary Square building, 441 4th Street NW, room 1114. As always, DCBAC meetings are open to the public and we invite you to participate in our discussion about the District's bicycling issues. We will be talking with Gilliian Burgess, of the Arlington BAC, about opportunities for cross jurisdictional collaboration so come ready to brainstorm! In addition, there will be an update from the Office of Planning on the Southwest Neighborhood Plan, Van Ness Vision Framework, and Adams Morgan Vision Framework, and updates from the BAC committees.  One Judiciary Square is a government building so please come prepared with photo ID.
