Rolling forward: D.C. bicycling report for August 2018

Highlights of BAC accomplishments in August:

Committees held their bimonthly meetings to prepare for projects from September through year’s end.

The Safety Committee meeting included family members of cyclist Malik Habib, killed while bicycling in July

The Legislative Committee met to discuss its agenda for the remainder of 2018
Both committees prepared for a Vision Zero public roundtable the D.C. Council is holding in late September. Taking place on Sept. 27, the roundtable is a joint initiative of the Committee on Transportation and the Environment and the Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety. It will be held at the John A. Wilson Building at 1:30 p.m. The BAC will circulate the public notice and additional details as they are released.

Member Jeff Johnson was reappointed to the BAC on Aug. 30.

This month: September activities

The BAC holds its bimonthly meeting on Sept. 5. The agenda features discussion with DDOT Director Jeff Marootian.

The BAC is co-hosting a Ward 4 Kids Ride with Councilmember Brandon Todd on Sept. 16. The ride assembles at 11 a.m. at Sherman Circle.

The BAC invites bicyclists to participate in PARK(ing) Day and Car-Free Days, both Sept. 21-22.

Save the date for the aforementioned Vision Zero roundtable on Sept. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Av NW.
